Albert
Frei & Sons, Inc. is a family owned construction aggregates
supplier. Providing Colorado with high quality materials and service.
Products including:
sand, gravel, crushed stone, ballast, riprap, boulders and inert
landfill
services.
Albert Frei & Sons was founded in 1962 by Albert "Fritz" Frei, when
the family farm was turned into a gravel pit supplying material for the
construction of Interstate 76. Albert Frei and his two sons, Albert and
Fred, operated at the site until the early 1980’s. Eventually Albert and Fred took over the
business from their father and began developing other sand and gravel deposits along
the South Platte River. Soon after Fred
bought a site in Silt, Colorado, from the company and started up FLAG Sand and
Gravel, while Albert kept the operations in the Denver area. Around the same time Albert was busy
permitting a new quarry near Idaho Springs in Clear Creek County. That site named the Walstrum Quarry became
the last green field quarry permitted in the Denver area and continues to serve
as the bed rock of the company’s operations.
Today Albert Frei & Sons is operated by Albert’s boys: Al Jr.,
Ben, Joe and Tommy as well as a dedicated group of over 50 employees. The company operates the Walstrum Quarry as
well as several sales yards, gravel pits and inert landfills in the Denver
Area.
